Spinal segmental sensitization syndrome (SSS) is a chronic regional musculoskeletal pain syndrome first described by Dr. Andrew A. Fischer in 1997, based on the work of Dr. C. Chan Gunn and Dr. Robert Maigne. This syndrome is very common in everyday physiatric consultation. Around 30% of patients who consult a rehabilitation clinic for chronic pain had SES.
