Abstract

The south of our continent has had and maintains outstanding activity on the international stage of Functional Neurosurgery, Radiosurgery and Stereotaxy. Thanks to renowned personalities who, individually, introduced and disseminated profound changes in the interpretation and treatment of epilepsy, abnormal movements, chronic pain, psychiatric disorders, etc. It is also worth highlighting the pioneering nature in the area of Stereotactic Radiosurgery, both with the Linac system and through the Gamma-Knife method. Why ABCUR? Simple, from an initiative of Drs. Luiz Fernando Martins and Fabián Piedimonte, neurosurgeons from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay, decided to create a social-scientific meeting that would allow us to transmit our own experience, successes, failures and questions in an informal atmosphere of deep cordiality.
