Winter Conference of the Neurosurgery Society of Chile. Latin American Congress of Functional Neurosurgery and Stereotaxy.

Abstract

Dear Colleagues and friends:
Functional neurosurgery has had great development in all its chapters worldwide and Latin American countries have helped in this development substantially.
On this occasion, the Society of Neurosurgery of Chile has appointed the Department of Neurosurgery of the Carabineros Hospital of Chile to organize the XXVIII Winter Conference on May 21 and 23, 2015, having entrusted me with the presidency of this important event, which I have taken with great satisfaction and at the same time, with great responsibility. This meeting has had the opportunity to merge with the most representative groups in Latin America of functional neurosurgery and stereotaxy such as the Latin American Society of Functional Neurosurgery and Stereotaxia (SLANFE) and the Joint Meeting of the Southern Cone (ABCUR). Together we have developed the Latin American Congress of Functional Neurosurgery and Stereotaxia, in which, in addition, I have had to preside over the Organizing Committee made up of colleagues from various countries such as: Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay , Argentina and Chile. Thanks to their intervention, it has been possible for the most representative speakers from each country to participate in their different areas of study and work on topics such as neuronavigation and stereotaxy, epilepsy surgery, abnormal movements, pain, spasticity, psychosurgery and radiosurgery, allowing a first-class scientific program.
