Dear friends and colleagues:
In May 2002, the First Joint Meeting of Functional Neurosurgery and Stereotaxy “ABCUR I” was held in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina, a symbolic name that involves the initials of the participating countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay); arose at the initiative of Dr. Luiz Fernando Martins and the undersigned, when considering the imperative need for the exchange of experiences and knowledge between professionals who actively worked in this fascinating field in the region.
In this way, ABCUR adopted the character of a biannual, scientific-social meeting, allowing the sharing of local experiences in all areas of functional neurosurgery, in an informal atmosphere of cordiality and friendship complemented by a level of discussion and scientific excellence that justifies the significance that this event has gained, surpassing the limits of our region.
From its first edition, on a periodic and uninterrupted basis, the ABCUR Meetings took place successfully until the meeting number VII that convenes us on this occasion in the city of Santiago de Chile, thanks to the hospitality of the Society of Neurosurgery of Chile that offers us the space for its renowned “Winter Days”.
