It is a short but very up-to-date book on the principles of functional and stereotactic neurosurgery. Divided into 9 chapters, it begins with a brief historical review of the specialty in Uruguay, the author's country of birth. It continues with the general concepts on functional neurosurgery and stereotaxia, surgery of abnormal movements, surgery of psychiatric disorders, spasticity surgery, neurosurgical treatment of pain, epilepsy surgery, concepts of radiosurgery and, finally, anesthesia in functional and stereotactic neurosurgery. . The author, Dr. Humberto Prinzo, is a young and renowned Uruguayan neurosurgeon, who had the collaboration of 13 national authors, with solid training and experience in the topic addressed.
