Mediodorsal thalamic nucleus (mdtn) and its involvement in neurological diseases.

Introduction: The aim of this work is to describe the principal anatomical (descriptive and topographical) and stereotactic characteristics of tha mediodorsal thalamic nucleus. Its importance in phisiological processes as sleeping and in relationship with illnesses such as epilepsy, schizophrenia and in the investigation campus.
Methods: Cadaver Specimens were used in this study as well as bibliographical research.
Conclusions: The mediodorsal nucleus is a neuroanatomic structure that must be studied with more intensity in all senses and its utility in stereotactic surgery is not used as it should.
